We got on the road today. We're all piled into Thatcher's van, because it's the only vehicle that would hold all of us and all the shit we brought along. I think Florence packed her entire bedroom, I swear.
I told you before that Quentin's the only one to go on a trip without his parents, but what I didn't tell you is that he and I are the only ones who have actually ever been out of the state before. Everybody was pretty nervous when we were getting started this morning, and I honestly thought that everybody might back out at the last moment. Luckily that didn't happen, and we're on the road.
We're still in Illinois tonight, but we're pretty far from home. We just drove aimlessly, stopping at anything that looked interesting, until it got dark. We just got back from dinner at Denny's (doesn't matter where you are, that restaurant has the worst service ever, jesus) and I figured out how to connect to the motel's wifi, so I figured I'd leave an update, in case anyone's actually reading this (I doubt it, but hey!).
We're heading somewhat north, because we wound up in Schaumburg and had lunch at Medieval Times. Holy shit, that was the most fun I have ever had eating dinner. We'd all heard about it, but we'd never been, and we are SO GLAD that we did. We went to the mall while we were there, too, and bought some sweet swag. We're somewhere in Rockford now; I know because we passed the convention center where I go to Wizard World almost every year (this year sucked, btw). We're staying at a Days Inn, because it's the cheapest around. The boys are in one room, and me and Flor have a room to ourselves. And thank God we do, because of how much SHIT she has! Good lord, Florence, we're only gonna be gone for two weeks! How much shit did you have to bring???
But, I digress. So far the trip's going awesome. We're having a blast, and we haven't driven each other crazy yet. We'll see how long THAT lasts, lol. Will update you guys tomorrow!
Pax,
Raleigh <3
